Ryan
I thought I was going to wake up to a pretty face but I thought wrong. I woke up to find my Angel gone. Why would she leave without telling me? She usually would wake me up but she chose to just up and leave. I can't believe her sometimes.
Angel was on her way north, almost reaching Hartford, by the time Ryan woke up. She couldn't do it. She couldn't tell him she was gone for good. She didn't know where she was headed but she knew she wasn't going to return to New York for a long time.
She was tired of what New York held out for her. It held very little opportunities and too much pain. She wanted to be with Ryan. She wanted to live on her own. She wanted everything she couldn't have at the moment. She couldn't afford to be on her own. She knew that. The one thing within her reach, she couldn't have, so why stay? She had no reason to stay. Her parents were leaving by the end of the year. She graduated already and was waiting on prospective jobs to call her in for interviews. Everything was almost set in place except who she wanted in her life. She contemplated calling him when she reached a hotel. She even contemplated calling home and decided not to. "They will all get letters," she rationalized. She sat down and opened her notebook and thought about what to write. This was the first letter and it is going to mean something to him. He is either going to want to find me or want to leave me behind. Let's hope for a chase. She picked up the pen and wrote out a riddle. Then she thought... "What about postcards? Postcards that show half of the answer to the riddle."
Just then she thought about all the cute postcards she had seen at the store near the intersection of the hotel. She knew he'd keep them. She wanted him to at least keep them even if he decided not to follow her around. She didnt think she'd ever let him catch her anyway. She'd do anything to keep from going back to New York. Anything.
